Think Michael Buble had a good week this week when “Christmas” moved 292,000 units to outsell Adele’s “21” by a two-to-one margin and retain his No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200? Then just wait until next week when “Christmas” possibly surpasses the 500,000 mark. Every now and then a Christmas title takes over the charts and dominates through the holidays (even if it doesn’t camp out at No. 1): it’s happened with Susan Boyle’s “I Dreamed a Dream,” Josh Groban’s “Noel” and now it’s Buble’s moment.

AFTRA and the television networks reached agreement on a new three-year contract today, with the new pact featuring now-standard 2% annual wage increases and an unusually large 1% increase in employer contributions to health and retirement. Notably, the union achieved the H&R increase without employers taking a bite out of the annual wage increase. Usually, a tradeoff between the two is required, which could have reduced one or more of the annual increases to a politically unpalatable 1-1/2% level.

As the end of the year draws near, Kim Kardashian is stepping back from the drama in her personal life to spend some time giving back in Haiti. Kardashian is in the earthquake-ravaged country with the charity group We Advance, along with her mom, Kris Jenner, and Prime Suspect star Maria Bello, who co-founded the organization. "She connected with Mario Bello and is there with Maria's foundation and also with her mom," a source close to Kardashian tells People.

Investors in the 2009 Nicolas Cage film Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call—New Orleans have filed a lawsuit against Nu Image and First Look Studios, claiming that proceeds from the motion picture have not been shared and that top executives have siphoned off revenue. Polsky Films, a film production outfit founded by brothers Alan and Gabe Polsky, filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court. According to the complaint, Polsky put up $1.3 million to finance the print and advertising budget for the U.S. distribution of the film.

The French are just so passionate, aren't they? Sometimes a little too much, especially in Kirsten Dunst's case. A judge has granted the Melancholia actress a temporary restraining order against a man from Dijon, France, who has written over 50 letters and even traveled to the U.S. to try to meet her. But that's not all... Jean Christophe Prudhon wrote in letters accompanying Dunst's petition that he sold his home in France so that he could continue to travel where the actress goes so that he might meet her. For the first time, a woman earns three of Billboard's biggest year-end charts honors: No. 1 on Top Artists, the No. 1 Billboard 200 Album and the No. 1 Hot 100 song. The woman, of course, is Adele. The album: 21. The song: "Rolling in the Deep" (both on Xl/Columbia). Since Billboard added the top overall artist category to its year-end recaps in 1981, no woman has ever pulled off the triple crown win until this year.

Retail giant Lowe's has pulled advertising from Discovery Communications-owned TLC's reality show All-American Muslim. The conservative Florida Family Association in a statement said it has sent three email alerts, encouraging supporters to email advertisers on the show. "All-American Muslim is propaganda that riskily hides the Islamic agenda’s clear and present danger to American liberties and traditional values," it said. On its Web site, the Association posted an email from a Lowe's representative saying: "While we continue to advertise on various cable networks, including TLC, there are certain programs that do not meet Lowe's advertising

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed the top 15 films in contention for the 2012 Visual Effects Oscar today and there were hardly any surprises. Dominated by summer blockbusters, the Academy's Visual Effects Branch Executive Committee will narrow the list down to 10 in early January. At that time, all members of the Visual Effects Branch will be invited to view 10-minute excerpts of the shortlisted films on Thursday, January 19. At that point, the branch members will vote to nominate five films for Oscar consideration.
