Kirsten Dunst Gets Restraining Order Against Alleged French Stalker


'Spider-Man" actress Kirsten Dunst has obtained a temporary restraining order against a Frenchman who's accused of stalking her, according to court documents obtained by TheWrap In a declaration filed with the court,the actress' mother, Inez Dunst, says that 51-year-old Jean Christophe Prudhon of Dijon, France, showed up at the doorstep of her Toluca Lake, Calif., home on Saturday, asking to speak to Kirsten. According to the elder Dunst, Prudhon has left "dozens of letters at my home, describing his obsession with my daughter.

Fifteen Pictures Vie for Academy Visual Effects Noms; What Didn't Make the Cut?


With new rules this year permitting five nominations, the Academy VFX Branch executive committee has picked fifteen films to be checked out at the annual Visual Effects Bakeoff in early January. That's when the committee will narrow the list to ten, and then, five for nominations morning January 25. Predictably, Marvel has three films on the list, below ("Captain America: The First Avenger," "Thor," and "X-Men: First Class"), while DreamWorks has two ("Cowboys & Aliens,""Real Steel"). DreamWorks honcho Steven Spielberg is also a producer on J.J. Abrams' "Super 8.

'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' Among 15 Films in Running for Visual Effects Oscars


The superhero community, typically united in the common goal of fighting crime, are battling each other in the Oscars race. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released its list of 15 films that are in the running for the Achievement in Visual Effects award at the 84th Academy Awards. Harrison Ford Officially in Jackie Robinson Biopic; Newcomer Lands Lead


Harrison Ford has officially signed on for the upcoming Jackie Robinson biopic, Legendary Pictures announced today. As reported by TheWrap on Thursday, Ford will play Branch Rickey, the Major League Baseball executive who helped break baseball's color barrier by signing Robinson to a minor league in 1945, and helped Robinson sign to the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947, making him the first African-American player in the Mlb. Lifetime Cancels 'Against the Wall'


Lifetime has decided not to order a second season of Against the Wall. Cast member Brandon Quinn tweeted the news late Friday evening, writing, "I'd like to thank @lifetimetv, the #AgainsttheWall writers and the Amazing fans of Against The Wall but unfortunately we've been canceled :(." The writers addressed the news shortly thereafter, writing on their Twitter account, "guessing many of you saw @BrandonJQuinn's tweet -- just found out we won't be coming back for a second season.

La Shooting: Hollywood Reporter Editor Shot, Recalls Incident


THR.com photo editor Chris Godley was shot at by a gunman in Hollywood on Friday morning, but was not seriously injured in an incident that was captured by witnesses on video and widely disseminated on the Internet. A gunman randomly opened fire at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street in Los Angeles on Friday morning. The suspect was shot and killed by police, who may have been working on a nearby film set.

'Boss' - 'Choose': Election day


A quick review of the "Boss" season finale coming up just as soon as I inhale a bottle of computer duster... My interest in "Boss" dropped precipitously after the first few episodes, once I realized that Kelsey Grammer's performance on its own wasn't enough to make me overlook the over-heated ludicrousness that made so much of the show around him (and even some of his own moments) feel like instant self-parody.

Im Global Snags Spec Script 'Kidnap,' Lorenzo Dibonaventura to Produce (Exclusive)


Exclusive Im Global snapped up the rights Thursday to “Kidnap,” a spec script by Knate Gwaltney, TheWrap has learned. Matt Peterman is expected to produce the thriller alongside Lorenzo Dibonaventura. William Brent Bell, who directed the 2006 horror film “Stay Alive” and the upcoming exorcism drama “The Devil Inside,” is expected to direct. The movie centers on a woman whose son is kidnapped at a local mall and her subsequent race to find his abductors. Original Artists represented Gwaltney in the sale.
